The BAM Fisher Building

Location: Fort Greene, Brooklyn

Budget: $40M (public and private funding)

Program:
A 250-seat black-box theater combining renovation, new construction, and historic preservation on a site constrained by tight lot lines and adjacent subway infrastructure.

Key program elements included:

  • Flexible black-box performance space

  • Rehearsal facilities

  • Back-of-house support spaces

  • Historic preservation

  • Indoor and rooftop event spaces

  • Classrooms and offices

  • Full FF&E programming and procurement oversight

  • LEED Gold certification

My Contribution

  • Coordinated multiple internal and external stakeholders, including public agencies

  • Managed multi-source public funding and associated compliance requirements

  • Established and supported institutional project governance and decision-making

BAM Strong - Harvey Lichtenstein Theater

Location: Fort Greene, Brooklyn

Budget: $45M (public and private funding)

Program:
A 850-seat proscenium theater combining renovation, new construction, and miscellaneous capital upgrades.

Key program elements included:

  • Renovation/restoration of an existing 1904 theater

  • A new construction ceremonial stair and enclosure in an existing rear yard requiring zoning approvals and easements.

  • A new construction lobby with a rooftop terrace on an existing vacant lot

  • Historic preservation

  • Public art

  • Miscellaneous capital upgrades: new seating, new balcony, new elevator, new cinema (2D/3D) capability, miscellaneous ADA upgrades

  • Full FF&E programming and procurement oversight

  • LEED Silver certification

My Contribution

  • Managed communication and engagement of multiple internal and external stakeholders, including public agencies (NYC DOB, PDC, MTA, DCLA, etc.)

  • Procured and managed all consultants

  • Managed multi-source public funding and associated compliance requirements

  • Established and managed institutional project governance and decision-making

  • Oversaw public art process including approvals, procurement, and installation

  • Performed technical document review and evaluation

  • Managed construction execution and project delivery (CMAR)

  • Developed and managed internal budget, cost control, and change management

  • Managed FF&E procurement and deployment

BAM Strong - Harvey Lichtenstein Theater

New lobby and art gallery built in adjacent vacant lot requiring acoustic treatment and ADA accessibility.

New ceremonial stair and enclosure. This stair required zoning approvals, easements, and fire/life safety modifications to adjacent spaces. Design issues included how to unify new construction with the existing, well-established aesthetic throughout the space.

L10/BAM KBH Arts and Cultural Center

Location: Fort Greene, Brooklyn

Budget: $60M (public and private funding)

Program:
As part of a public-private partnership between the City of New York, BAM, and other cultural partners sharing a cultural condominium, this project featured new cinemas, education space, archives, lobby and public.

Key program elements included:

  • 3 new cinemas (large and small)

  • An education space/black box theater

  • A new lobby featuring public art by Leo Villareal

  • The BAM Hamm archives and offices

  • New cinema lobby and ticket booth

My Contribution

  • Managed communication, engagement, and led governance for of multiple internal and external stakeholders, including NYC agencies like EDC and other cultural partners (651 Arts, MoCADA, Brooklyn Public Library

  • Managed and coordinated the public art process with the City of New York and the artist

  • Managed establishment of internal governance (legal) between BAM, cultural partners, and the City of New York

  • Developed and managed internal budget, cost control, and change processes

  • Managed FF&E procurement and deployment

My Contribution

  • Project management

  • Reviewed design and engineering packages, negotiated change orders, and ensured contract compliance.

  • Led owner/architect/contractor construction meetings

  • Oversaw construction, closeout, closings, and move-in

Location: AlUla, Saudi Arabia

Program: Ultra-high-luxury and luxury hotels, resorts, and related infrastructure projects

My Contribution

As Senior Design Director--managing a staff of five architects, designers, and engineers--I led design management and related activities for all UDC projects.  The projects were hospitality and related infrastructure projects. 

My duties included authoring RFPs, design briefs, design competitions, design consultant procurement, design management, budget management, scheduling, risk management, establishment of company-wide design management protocols, practices, and standards, evaluation of engineering reports and proposals, stakeholder management and approvals to include presentations to authorities such as the Royal Commission of AlUla (RCU).

Single-family Residential

Location: New York City, Upstate New York

Program: Single-family residential projects

My Contribution

As a consultant I performed many services such as design management, technical document review, change order review and evaluation, construction oversight, design review, and contract evaluation/negotiation.

The projects ranged from single-family country houses to loft/apartment/co-op renovations including custom furniture design.
